    Funeral Service Program and Institution Accredited by ABFSE:  Associate in Occupational Studies - Funeral Service

    Initial Accreditation 1946/Last comprehensive review 2020 (postponed due to Covid-19 pandemic)/Next comprehensive review 2025

      Re-accreditation:  April 2023 for period of three (3) years with stipulation to provide updated assessment plan and curriculum distribution.
      Most recent Accreditation decisions: April 2021 - current program and institutional accreditation continued on Probation. Probation status to be addressed by March 1, 2022 with requirements to verify accuracy of 2020 Annual Report data and verify compliance with accreditation standards that took effect January 1, 2020 (Standards 1,2,3,6,10).
      -April 2022 - Probation status extended for one year (until April 2023) based on significant efforts to address original probation concerns. At that time, a clearly articulated and integrated assessment plan must be presented. Such a plan will demonstrate a mechanism for collecting, assessing, and applying data in order for assessment efforts to lead to continuous program improvement.(in-person follow-up to October 2020 virtual site visit is required)
      -October 2022 -In-person follow-up visit completed.
      -April 2023 - Probation status resolved. Return to 'Good Standing.'

    Initial Accreditation 1947/Last comprehensive review 2023/Next comprehensive review 2030

      Re-accreditation:  October 2023 for period of seven (7) years with no stipulations.
      Most recent Accreditation decision: 
      -October 2016 for period of seven (7) years
      -April 2017 received updated college catalog to verify proper accreditation statement.
      -October 2023 - re-accredited for period of seven (7) years; no stipulations. Progress report due March 1, 2024 to document evidence of faculty training for the new learning management system. Important factors in the re-accreditation decision were evidence of interdisciplinary cooperation and the dedicated space for teaching funeral practices and embalming/restorative arts labs.
      -April 2024 - Satisfactory progress report received.

      Re-accreditation:  April 2016 extended while program addresses Probation concerns following comprehensive review.
      Most recent Accreditation decisions:  April 2019 accepted progress report to demonstrate use of assessment data for program improvement. 2019 Assessment Plan to be submitted with Annual Report.
      -April 2020 - acknowledged receipt of updated assessment plan.
      -April 2021 - 2021 Annual Report is to be accompanied by an updated assessment plan that includes data and demonstration of how assessment was used for program improvement.
      -April 2022 - COA acknowledged receipt of the assessment plan. Evidence to support Standard 10.1.2g was not obvious. This information must be provided during the upcoming comprehensive review.
      -April 2023 -Probation for one (1) year while the program addresses concerns with Standards 1,3,5,7,9,10 regarding internal communication processes, program recordkeeping, course syllabi, affiliation agreements, updates to student handbook and continued assessment concerns.
      -April 2024 - Program accreditation status is moved from 'Probation' to 'Show Cause why accreditation should not be removed'. Unresolved Probation issues will be reviewed for an April 2025 decision. If Probation issues are not resolved at that time, accreditation will be removed. Program accreditation remains in effect until that time.
